Reilly Roofing and Gutters, the best roofer in Denton, TX is proudly presenting you our newest non-profit interview. We talked with Julie Anderson (Program Manager/Executive Director). Take your time, read about them and support this outstanding Organization.

1. To begin with, can you briefly introduce your organization?
Keep Denton Beautiful is a 501(c)(3) local nonprofit focused on litter prevention, urban forestry, beautification and youth programs.

2. What is your organization’s main mission?

KDB’s mission is to engage our community in creating a clean and beautiful Denton.

3. In which ways have you contributed to the local community?
Every year, KDB beautifies and cleans Denton through a multitude of events and activities. Every March we hold the community-wide cleanup event – the Great American Cleanup. This event has over 2,000 volunteers, keeping Denton beautiful by picking up over 9 tons of litter and trash all over Denton. Each April we celebrate Arbor Day with the Redbud Festival, a home/garden show with education workshops and events for kids. Every fall KDB hosts the Community Tree Giveaway, a large-scale tree giveaway for Denton residents. KDB also has facilitated various mural projects across the city (Bell/Sherman, Bonnie Brae/Scripture). We also host special cleanups through Adopt-A-Spot, recognize local citizens through Yard of the Month, and participate in the Keep America Beautiful program – Cigarette Litter Prevention.

4. What do you perceive to be your biggest accomplishment?

One of our biggest accomplishments of the past few years has been securing grant funding from the Union Pacific Foundation for the Community Tree Giveaway. This funding has allowed KDB to continue to provide free trees to Denton residents.

5. How would you like the members of the local community to get involved with your organization?Locals can get involved in a number of ways! Volunteer! We need volunteers for our events, and for special cleanups. Those interested can contact our Volunteer and Program Coordinator, Celia, at volunteer@kdb.org. All Denton residents are also able to sign up to help out with the Great American Cleanup and to register for a tree through the Community Tree Giveaway. And, as a non-profit, we rely on donations and sponsors – become a member of KDB and received special benefits.

6. Do you have any upcoming events?
Apply for a Neighborhood Beautification Grant! Application opens August 6, find information at www.kdb.org. The Community Tree Giveaway registration will open September 10 for KDB members and September 17 for everyone else.

7. What is it that you love most about what you do?
We love interacting with our volunteers and seeing how they help us transform Denton. We love seeing people taking pride in their community. And we love being a part of such a great community.
